CBT MEET SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED ENTERPRISES AT COSTCO WHOLESALE!
The
Confederation of Businesses and Traders (CBT) were
pleased to meet numerous business owners at the Costco
Wholesale trade fair in Essex this month. Business
owners and directors presented differing opinions and
conveyed problems that they were encountering as small
businesses. The CBT explained the various ways in which
they can help and were happy to give advice to those
requiring information.

CBT MEMBER'S BUSINESS DIRECTORY GETS A BOOST TO SEARCH ENGINE INDEXING!
The
Confederation of Businesses and Traders have completed
as part of ongoing development an upgrade of their
Business Directory. The changes ensure availability to
indexing of web pages placed for businesses and
tradesmen within the directory by major search engines
as Google, Yahoo etc. This improvement will direct
visitors to member’s websites giving an
opportunity for members to showcase the products and
services they provide and promote new business. CBT
members should view their entry in the directory
accessed from the CBT’s homepage and let the CBT
know should any of their details need updating. The
business Directory contains contact details for each
member and up to 15 keywords/phrases for SEO
purposes.

FREE PERSONALISED HOLDING PAGES!
The CBT is
now providing free personalised holding pages to
members purchasing domains names. The object is to
provide immediate presence on the web for members
whilst gathering material for the CBT to provide a free
website. Members enjoy free web hosting together with a
5 page website free of setup charges.

VAT CHANGE PROVEN TO BE NO REAL HELP.
The
government's recent change in the VAT rates have
according to a poll taken, been ineffective in
combating the downturn. 97% of businesses agree along
with the CBT that there was no appreciable benefit to
outweigh the cost of implementing the changes.

PUBLIC INCREASINGLY NOT PAYING UP FOR WORK DONE.
The CBT have
received feedback from businesses that they are
experiencing more frequent occasions of customers
manufacturing excuses for not paying for work or jobs
done. To assist and help avoid this happening to
members the CBT has placed advice within their January
newsletter suggesting that basic good business
practices are adopted. If members have trouble
obtaining payment after taking basic precautions the
CBT will initiate procedures to claim the invoice
totals of commercial debts free of charge.

CBT ANNOUNCE MEMBER'S FEES TO BE FROZEN.
At a meeting
on 06th January 2008 Membership subscription fees were
reviewed due to the current difficulties experienced by
SMEs , it was decided that subscription fees to the CBT
would be held at the current rate.

FREE DRAW ANNOUNCED FOR BUSINESSES TO HAVE FIRST YEAR'S SUBSCRIPTION FEE WAIVED.
The CBT
announced that they would hold a free draw to
facilitate one business applicant to join the CBT every
month with the first year's membership fee completely
free.

Non-Profit Making Pledge!
At a meeting
of directors and associates on 28th January 2008 it was
proposed that the role of the CBT would be more
effective if it's motivation was non-profit making.
After deliberation it was agreed by attending members that the aim of the CBT should be non profit making. This would allow for funds surplus to the smooth running of the organization being released to provide better services and benefits to the CBT membership whilst at the same time being able to maintain the present levels subscription fees.
The "Confederation of Businesses and Traders" was formed to protect consumers and to assist members to generate business. We support fair and honest traders by offering membership allowing them to be distinguished from their competitors. Offering unrivalled benefits we assist members to achieve success in the business world.
The founders of the CBT come from a vast and varied background of industry and use their experience to help others.
